This album has been really fun to make. It's my first real effort at creating an album with a concept and vision beforehand. I've been playing in a gamelan ensemble for about the last 3 years and have always been intensely inspired by these experiences. Also growing up here in Hawaii I'm surrounded by Japanese, Chinese and many more cultures. And I've been listening to trip hop and beat music in general for quite some time now, probably the last 4 or 5 years. All of this has evolved into this album you are listening to now, in fact it's mostly inspired by trip hop and balinese gamelan, though a few other influences show themselves. And so I've created a fusion of culture. A fusion that living here in Hawaii, home to so many cultures, is lived daily.
